Each year, the Olvera Street Merchants, in partnership with El Pueblo Historical Monument,

host a variety of traditional events. We will be adding more events monthly.
You are invited to join us and come dressed up to celebrate!

All events are FREE of charge, and open to the public!

LOS TRES REYES

A celebration of the Epiphany of the Magi (visit of the Three Kings).

 

Olvera Street will have music, a lively theatrical procession on Olvera Street and the serving of traditional Rosca de Reyes.

CANDELERIA

The traditional blessing of elaborately dressed statues of Baby Jesus, culminating the Christmas season.

BLESSING OF
THE ANIMALS

Saturday before Easter
 

 

A centuries-old tradition of blessing animals for the benefits they provide mankind. It is celebrated with a procession on Olvera Street led by the Archbishop of Los Angeles. 


Fun entertainment throughout the day. All pets (and people) welcome!

CINCO DE MAYO

May (on or around May 5) TBD

A celebration of Mexico’s victory over French forces in Puebla, Mexico in 1862 with popular and traditional and live music, exhibitor booths, carnival rides, kids activities, beer garden, entertainment, dancing, food and more.

FIESTAS PATRIAS - MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE 

September 15 

Celebration of Mexican Independence from Spain with traditional entertainment, cultural activities, historic displays, food, artisan exhibits.

MUERTOS ARTWALK

Join us at our artistic event!

 

Our annual event will be hosting over 40 local artists from the greater Los Angeles area celebrating our wonderful Dia De Los Muertos.

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS

October 25 - November 2
Novenario begins at 7:00 pm

 

The nightly novenario procession includes an indigenous blessing ceremony in remembrance of departed loved ones with beautifully decorated altars, exhibits and entertainment.

LAS POSADAS

December 16 - 24  6:00pm

This nine-night presentation of the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem is portrayed with singing, ballet folklorico entertainment, a candlelight procession on Olvera Street and a children's pinata breaking each evening. Free sweet bread and champurrado are given to all in attendance and the Pastorela.
